After Devils Tower, we spent the next three days traveling to Glacier National Park. Julie (my daughter) was working we decided to travel about three hours each night. We also spent one day, yes one day at Walmart. The Glacier is amazingly beautiful. The mountains are the biggest I have ever seen. One of the main things to do is drive the road called Going to the Sun. It cuts through the mountains up to Logan’s Pass and down the other side. Some of the drop-offs make your hair stand up on end. Also, some of the roads were so narrow I thought I was going to rip the mirrors off the truck.
This area is known as bear country. The bear is also the state animal of Montana and they have the highest concentration of Grizzly Bears. We saw six bears while driving on the Sun Road. Five grizzles and one black bear. We took a drive up to the part of the park located in Canada as well. There was a lovely little town right on the water and an amazing view. One of the highlights of the trip was when we attended the nighttime ranger talk about the stars. We were fortunate to be able to see the Northern Lights.
